Water and Food Systems for Resilient Communities

The program aims to inclusively and equitably improve food and water security by empowering individuals and communities to mitigate and adapt to shocks and stressors in order to improve livelihoods, maintain nutrition and health wellbeing, address drivers of conflict, and reduce reliance on humanitarian assistance. This project is a five-year, $65 million activity focusing on three watershed zones the Karamoja region of Uganda. People in these catchment areas suffer from high levels of water and food insecurity driven by natural conditions, unsustainable practices, and poor public service provision, resulting in conflict, low agriculture yields, poor health outcomes, and natural resource degradation.
