TAAT Water Enabler Compact
The broad focus of the second phase of the Technologies for African Agriculture Transformation Water Enabler Compact (TAAT-WEC) is to improve the productivity of the agricultural ecosystem, enable the capacity of farmers to adapt to the increasing threat posed by climate change and weather variability and enhance the resilience of the production system. The program will support rice, cassava and wheat compacts in selected countries.
Building on the gains and successes already recorded in the project, TAAT-WEC working with the commodity compacts will:
- Promote a bundle of irrigation and water management innovations in cassava seedling multiplication, rice and wheat production.
- Engage private sectors and equipment vendors in the scaling of TAAT-WEC innovations.
- Train farmers and extension workers in good irrigation water management practices in cassava seedling multiplication, rice and wheat production.
- Work with the commodity compact to initiate necessary policy frameworks to improve small scale irrigation practices in the countries.
