Mapping aquifer recharge zones in Balochistan
The primary objective of this project is to guide the implementation and upscaling of groundwater recharge in the selected eight sub-river basins of Balochistan. The project will identify existing groundwater depletion areas and identify suitable zones for aquifer recharge in the selected river basins of Pishin Lora, Nari, Hingol and Hamune Mashkel, and 32 associated watersheds and sub-basins. The technical assessment will produce knowledge products and thematic maps of geology, hydrogeology, soil texture, gradient, slope, land use and land cover. This will guide the implementation of groundwater recharge interventions by the Food and Agriculture Organization and the government of Balochistan.
