“The automated soil moisture sensor is a cost effective and user-friendly intervention that can help farmers to learn when to irrigate crops and orchards,” said Dr Jehanzeb Masud Cheema, Researcher Water Resources Management, IWMI , while talking to a group of journalists and journalism students during a capacity building event.

Dr Cheema said these water sensors had been installed under WRAP Programme Component 1: CRS-IWaG, and IWMI hoped that this technology would be used by other farmers as well, as they see its benefits.
