The 6th African Regional Conference on Irrigation and Drainage (ARCID) will focus on the theme: "Tackling Irrigation Development and Water Management Crises in Africa." The conference aims to convene experts in irrigation and drainage from across Africa to address contemporary and future challenges in these fields, fostering collaboration through the International Commission on Irrigation & Drainage's network and working groups.

This WaterTalk Seminar, which will be held during the 6th African Regional Conference on Irrigation & Drainage, aims to explore transformative solutions, identify and promote scalable and sustainable irrigation technologies that can be adopted across West Africa. The seminar will bring together practitioners, financial institutions, development partners, NGOs/CSOs, policymakers, researchers, and other irrigation stakeholders to share insights, co-develop solutions to address identified challenges, and build collaborative pathways toward resilient irrigation systems in West Africa.

The Ramsar Convention's mission is “the conservation and wise use of all wetlands through local and national actions and international cooperation, as a contribution towards achieving sustainable development throughout the world”. Wetlands are among the most diverse and productive ecosystems that provide essential services and supply all our fresh water. However, they continue to be degraded and converted to other uses. 

The AU-AIP Water Investment Summit 2025 aligns with the adopted theme for the South Africa's G20 Presidency; Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability and the 2025 G20 priorities which include strengthening resilience to climate-induced disasters, mobilizing finance for a just energy transition, and securing an agreement on increasing the quality and quantity of climate finance flows to developing countries.
